With the UK release of the 3DS now just a few short weeks away, Nintendo is rumoured to be prepping the arrival of the long awaited Wii 2, with the next-generation console reportedly headed for an E3 launch in June.
With the gaming get-together that is E3 scheduled to take place in Los Angeles between June 7th and 9th of this year, Nintendo is rumoured to follow last year’s confirmation of the glasses-free 3D handheld 3DS console with the official arrival of the Wii’s belated successor.
Many of the Wii 2 rumours currently circulating focus heavily on a quote from Nintendo President Satoru Iwata who declared at a Japanese investor Q and A session last year: "We are of course studying and developing the next console to Wii. However, there is a big difference between studying a product and announcing what it is and when we will release it."
Whilst Nintendo UK has given a firm “no comment” on the reported Wii 2 announcement, latest rumours have pegged the mooted console as boasting a Blu-ray drive, speedy quad-core processor and somewhat surprisingly, an inbuilt LED projector.
Would the Wii 2 need to boast 3D credential like its pocket-friendly sibling to pique your interest? Let us know via the T3 Twitter and Facebook feeds and stay tuned to T3.com for all the latest on the possible Wii 2 arrival.
